Musiq Soulchild released his 6th studio album MusiqInTheMagiq last week (5/3). We caught up with the soul crooner in NYC as he held a press meet & greet, performed a release day concert at Highline Ballroom, and spoke with him at Atlantic Records about the new album, his goals when creating, which female artists he is feeling these days, possible mixtape projects and more. Whitney Houston is still fighting to get back to solid career standings and a recent personal move may help guide her in that direction. According to TMZ, the legendary R&B singer has checked herself into an out-patient rehabilitation program but this time, not for drugs or alcohol.

A source tells the site that Houston “enrolled in the program around 10 days ago” but insist “it’s not drug or alcohol related.” In contrary, Houston is said to be preparing for her role in the sequel to her 1995 hit film ‘Waiting to Exhale.’

Because the program is out-patient, Houston is free to be in public. Over the weekend, she was filmed performing with music great Chaka Khan at a Prince concert at LA’s Forum.

As far as Waiting to Exhale goes, cast member Angela Basset recently confirmed the full returning cast (Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine, Lela Rochon and Bassett) on CBS’ The Talk today (See video).

Update via People.com – Apparently Whitney Houston actually checked into rehab for drug and alcohol treatment

“Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment,” her rep tells PEOPLE in a statement. “Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.

It’s Musiq Soulchild’s moment to shine again as her releases his much anticipated sixth studio album ‘musiqinthemagiq.’ The set, which follows 2008’s ‘OnMyRadio,’ is lead by the first single “Anything” featuring producer/rapper Swizz Beatz. Never resting on his past accomplishments, the Soul/R&B crooner recently told Singersroom, “I feel like I have a whole lot more to accomplish musically.” He further expressed that his goal is to remain, “a valid contributor to this legacy of music.”

For the ladies, Musiq informs that the entire project is dedicated to women. “I always see myself as a mediator for women. I try my best to articulate a man’s perspective when it comes to being in love or dealing with things of an intimate or romantic nature. This whole project is for the females. It is also for the men too – in the way of me offering them advice, opinions, and options that they may not readily think of at the time,” he says.

Kelly Price is set to release a new R&B album after eight years. Kelly’s new album, Kelly, follows her 2006 gospel album, This Is Who I Am. It was after the release of This Is Who I Am that people thought Price had switched her musical career path from R&B to gospel.

Speaking about her upcoming album, Kelly Price said, “It’s never been a secret that I’m a preacher’s kid. Gospel will forever be a part of my life; that’s why I sing the way I sing. But I never said I was leaving R&B.”

Fortunately, Kelly Price is back and that’s all that matters, Kelly has been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle free of tabloids in her downtime. Whether or not she’s singing R&B or gospel, it will be great to see her singing her heart out once again. Price’s latest album will be released on May 3rd.

A few months ago, Mariah Carey affectionately started referring to her twins as “Dem Babies” and they have finally arrived.

After being pregnant for what seemed like years, Mariah and husband Nick Cannon welcomed twins into the world yesterday on their third wedding anniversary. The baby girl came first at 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and 18 inches long; while her little brother was next at 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and 19 inches long.

Mariah and Nick have yet to share the names of the babies with the public but hinted that they would definitely be “unique”. Cindi Berger, Mariah’s representative, claims that they haven’t named the children yet but with Mariah recently spending $100,000 on multiple nurseries, I’m sure they have a few names in mind. o_o

In true style, 41-year-old Mariah arrived at the hospital in a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Cindi states that Mariah initially believed it was just another case of false labor (as the one on her birthday), and was calm through the whole ordeal. She also stated that after the babies were born, the family listened to Mariah’s ‘We Belong Together.’

Meanwhile, Nick was so nervous he arrived at the wrong department in the hospital and had to be personally guided to the maternity ward.

“It was like right out of an ‘I Love Lucy’ skit.”

Nick and Mariah are scheduled to renew their wedding vows this Sunday, and after the devastation of suffering a miscarriage back when they were first married in 2008, the joy of having two at once has to be intense. Even though Mariah is basking in the glow of motherhood, she recently made it very clear this will be her one and only pregnancy.
